Two award-winning chefs, from either end of the country, have come together to celebrate the 8th anniversary of fine-dining restaurant Sidart in central Auckland.
Giulio Sturla, owner and head chef of Roots in Lyttleton near Christchurch, joined forces with Sidart's Sid Sahrawat to create a one-of-a-kind 12-course meal to mark the occasion.
The menu for 'North to South at Sidart' was designed to showcase the best of local foraged produce from in and around Auckland and Christchurch.
Some of the ingredients Sturla brought up from Canterbury included snow-foraged moss, truffles, paua and koura.
In Auckland the chefs visited Orakei reserve and Kelmarna Gardens in Ponsonby to collect plants, leaves and flowers including kawakawa, nasturtiums, onion flowers and wild sorrel.
