A woman driver and her brother escaped unharmed after she lost control of her vehicle and hit a row of roadside trees near Carterton yesterday.
Masterton traffic policing Sergeant Chris Megaw said the woman, 58, was shaken but unharmed and her brother, 55, who was a passenger in the 4x4 vehicle, was left with a sore leg in the wake of the crash on Chester Rd just after 3pm.
He said the woman had been driving north and her vehicle started drifting on to grass at the side of the road about 100 metres from the site of the collision.
The woman had over-corrected and lost control of the vehicle, which struck a row of trees in a shelter belt on the opposite side of the road.
The vehicle was extensively damaged in the crash.
