The end is not yet in sight for miserable weather plaguing the country, but Kiwis may be in for a better weekend, Metservice says.
Meteorologist Kyle Lee said the front that had been moving up the South Island today was making its way to the lower part of the North Island, and was expected to bring some blustery, wet weather overnight.
The fast-moving front should quickly clear the North Island though - but that didn't mean a reprieve for chilly New Zealanders.
A second weather feature will be following, bringing showers around the country through parts of tomorrow.
Wellington, which was battered by winds today, can expect a wild evening, but tomorrow it might catch a glimpse of fine weather before the showers from the second weather feature roll in.
