A shotgun was fired several times at a house in west Auckland today.
Police said that at about noon, a woman was in a bedroom of the house in Brigham Creek Road, Whenuapai, when she heard a vehicle pull up at the property.
As the 23-year-old woman looked out of the window to see what was happening, she saw a man with a shotgun. He fired several shots directly at the house.
Then, as she moved to close a door, another shot was fired, narrowly missing her.
The man and his associates then left the scene at speed in a vehicle described as a Black Mitsubishi Diamante.
Police are now searching for the car, with the Police helicopter Eagle and dogs involved in the search.
Witnesses have told police that there were three occupants in the car and that they appeared to be gang members. The remains of a drug lab were found at the back of the house.
Police said the woman was terrified during the incident. Officers remain at the scene talking to witnesses.
