Queenstown thrill-ride operator Shotover Jet has pulled its jetboats off the water for the third time in less than a month over concerns about engine performance.
The company said today the latest problem related to lead deposits causing erosion on certain engine components and the company was testing different fuels.
Chief operating officer Tony Warwick said passenger safety was not an issue, but there were concerns about potential damage to the jetboats' engines if lead erosion continued.
Mr Warwick said the jetboats would be out of action at least until Tuesday, when the company would review the situation.
"We're hoping to get operational again early next week," he said.
