KEY POINTS:
Police are hunting a gunman after a shotgun blast hit a car on a residential Morrinsville street last night.
The single shot rung out in the Waikato town, 32km northeast of Hamilton, between 7pm and 9pm yesterday. No one was hurt and no one has yet been arrested.
Morrinsville detective Nick Rolley said police were today talking to the owner of the car and people who live in the street where the shot was fired.
At this stage, there was nothing to suggest gang involvement.
Mr Rolley said an armed offenders squad was despatched to the neighbourhood last night as a precaution, but failed to find anything.
Police returned to the street this morning to search in daylight, he said.
