A 29-year-old who was shot in the stomach when he allegedly tried to rob an Auckland gunshop was remanded in custody for a psychiatric report in Auckland District Court today.
Ricky James Beckham, 29, is charged with assault with intent to rob.
His lawyer, Jim Boyack, asked for Beckham to be further remanded in custody so a report under the Mentally Impaired Act could be completed.
He is due to reappear in court on August 21.
Beckham is alleged to have burst into a gun shop in Penrose on July 27, wielding a machete and was shot in the stomach by shop employee Greg Carvell.
