The young German man seriously wounded in a shooting accident on a farm near Gisborne on Christmas Eve has recovered and is now out of hospital.
Jonas Winkel was discharged from Auckland City Hospital last week.
The police inquiry into the shooting continues and Mr Winkel was interviewed by detectives last week in Auckland.
The 23-year-old was hunting goats with two companions when he was shot in the chest at close range with a .30-30 calibre rifle.
He was flown to Auckland Hospital on Christmas Day and had a series of operations on the internal injuries the bullet caused.
