Shot fired in petrol station robbery

A gunman fired a shot when he tried to rob the BP Summit service station on Waihi Rd, Tauranga, last night.

The bullet did not hit anyone and embedded itself within the building.

The offender demanded money, but police could not say if he stole anything.

The gunman escaped on foot.
