A thief who knocked himself out while trying to flee a Whangarei store will be able to reflect on his indiscretion while performing community work.
Adam Saville, aged 19, appeared in Whangarei District Court yesterday on a charge of theft, after he tried to steal a pair of shoes from Rebel Sports, in Okara Shopping Centre, last Wednesday.
Saville failed to appear when he was first called before registrars at the court yesterday and a warrant for his arrest was issued. It was left to lie on the table until the end of the day before being enforced, but he later turned up and was sentenced to 40 hours community work.
