Friends and family farewelled Nelson man Troy Minto yesterday just metres from where he was fatally shot a week ago.
Mr Minto, 22, died from a single gunshot blast the chest in Branford Park during a reported argument over a woman.
Among those who attended yesterday's memorial service were his mother, Shirley Way and partner of two-and-a-half years, Elisha Maunder, The Nelson Mail reported.
Archdeacon Harvey Whakaruru, who conducted Mr Minto's private funeral service on Friday and yesterday's memorial service, praised the few among the crowd who were with Mr Minto when he was shot.
"You are very special people in lots of ways. You hold on to the sacredness of everything that happened that day," Mr Whakaruru said.
Blair Robert McNaughton, 24, has been charged with murdering Mr Minto.
He, Blake Paul Cunnard, 23, Isaac Crawford Warren, 20, Samual (crct) Ingram Gillbanks, 22, and Jared Matthew Perry, 22, are all accused of unlawful assembly and possession of a firearm.
