Shooting of man's elbow a mystery

A mystery shooting which removed most of a man's elbow is unlikely to be resolved, say police.

The man, 40, arrived at Waitakere Hospital in a late-model BMW a week ago. He had been shot with a shotgun.

Police have identified the man and the woman driving the car but both refuse to say what happened. Detective Sergeant Peter Litherland said it was probably an underworld incident, and likely to be an accident.
