A man has been arrested after firing an air pistol "indiscriminately" around the upmarket Auckland suburb of Herne Bay.
Police were called to Jervois Rd just after 7pm after receiving a report that the man had walked out of a dairy and started firing.
"He was walking up the road... firing indiscriminately. He was apprehended by uniform staff at the scene," said Inspector Steve Kose of northern police communications centre.
It was too early to say if the man would be charged. He was still being spoken to.
Mr Kose said no one was injured and police had seized the firearm.
