KEY POINTS:
National Party MP Simon Power is urging the Minister of Police to take action following the publication of pictures from Brad Shipton's sex tape.
The convicted rapist was caught on camera as recently as 2001 with other police officers having group sex with a woman.
Mr Power says Police Minister Annette King must act immediately to repair the tainted image of the force.
He says the police are an institution that the public cannot afford to have anything less than 100 per cent confidence in.
Mr Power says with the scenes in the tape happening only six years ago, the government will not be able to sweep the controversy under the carpet by saying it is of a historical nature.
