Shellfish warning after sewer punctured

Beachgoers are being warned not to swim or take shellfish from popular Cable Bay beach in Doubtless Bay, northeast of Kaitaia, after a water supply contractor accidentally punctured the main East Coast sewer line running between Mangonui and Taipa.

Maintenance contractors repaired the break after six hours.
