Several sheep were killed in a fire that destroyed a woolshed in Manawatu this morning.
Three fire trucks from Eketahuna and Pahiatua were sent to the blaze, on Putara Rd, in Eketahuna at 5.39am, a fire service spokesman said.
The woolshed was fully involved in fire by the time firefighters arrived, and was full of sheep, he said.
He said he was unsure as to exactly how many sheep were killed in the fire.
"It is totally on the ground now."
