A shearing worker is thought to have severed an artery in his arm after a sheep kicked out a glass window and he cut himself.
An ambulance communications spokesman said emergency services were contacted about the incident on a farm in Pohangina, north of Palmerston North, at 8.45am.
The caller feared the man may have severed an artery in his arm.
The Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter was dispatched with an intensive care paramedic on board and transported the man to Palmerston North Hospital in a serious condition.
The ambulance spokesman understood that a sheep had kicked out a glass window and the man had somehow cut himself.
