KEY POINTS:
Sharp Corporation is recalling its 42-inch (106.68cm) LCD televisions due to the risk of electric shocks and overheating.
The recalled televisions were sold between February 1 and May 21.
The company said the problem was caused by a small piece of foam shielding which could become loose and touch the power board, passing live voltage onto the frame of the set.
It said owners of the particular model should unplug their televisions and either visit the sharp website at www.sharp.net.nz or call 0800 543 899.
Any work would be performed free of charge and in-home.
