Renault has decided that it would be too risky to sell off-road vehicles manufactured by Nissan under its own name in Europe, according to reports from this week's Paris Motor Show.
When the French carmaker announced plans to merge its European sales and marketing operations with Nissan in May, it also said that it would sell some re-badged Nissan off-roaders under the Renault name, with only minor modifications to distinguish them from their Japanese siblings.
But the company has now decided that the move would be too risky for both brand identities.
Instead, the two are forging ahead with plans for new separate off-roaders.
