A series of shallow earthquakes, the biggest at magnitude 3.8, have been recorded by Geonet about 28 to 35km southwest of Wellington tonight.
The shakes started at 7.01, the first and biggest at a depth of 13km. Others were recorded at magnitude 3.3 and 3.1.
