A shallow earthquake has jolted Cantabrians this morning, even though it measured less than four on the Richter Scale.
It happened just before 9am and was centred 5km south of Christchurch at a depth of just 5km.
Social media has lit up with reports - some calling it "spooky".
Other reports said houses were creaking during the tremor, which registered 3.5 on the scale.
