A shallow magnitude 4.2 earthquake has shaken downtown office buildings in Los Angeles.
The quake hit 161m underground at 1:47pm (local time) in the San Fernando Valley and was felt as far away as Woodland Hills, Santa Monica and downtown Los Angeles.
It felt like a rolling motion for a few seconds in downtown office buildings, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Two deeper aftershocks measuring magnitude 2.0 and 2.6 followed the quake, it reported.
