Police have reopened State Highway 7 following a crash shortly before 1pm yesterday in which a motorcyclist heading to the annual Woodstock Rally near Hokitika was killed.
The 65-year-old, from Christchurch, was riding west towards Reefton when he was involved in a collision with a car heading the opposite direction.
His next of kin have been informed but have not authorised the release of his name.
The man was riding with a group of motorcyclists near Blacks Point when the crash happened on a sweeping bend.
The sole occupant of the car, a Reefton local, was unharmed.
