A major road blocked south of Kaikohe by a logging truck crash earlier today is now open to one lane of traffic.
The accident occurred about 9.45am on Mangakahia Rd/State Highway 15, just south of Twin Bridges.
The road was blocked for most of the morning and early afternoon in both directions and the driver was assessed by St John Ambulance personnel. He is believed to have suffered only minor injuries.
Senior Sergeant Brian Swann, of Northland police, said the truck appeared to have hit a drain and rolled onto its side. He urged motorists to avoid the area and use SH1 or SH12 instead.
