SH1 reopens at Otaika in Northland after female pedestrian struck by car

SH1 has reopened at Otaika in Whangarei following this morning's serious crash involving a car and a pedestrian

The pedestrian, a woman, is in Northland Hospital with serious injuries.

The Serious Crash Unit is investigating.

Police said they would like to thank motorists in the area for their patience while the road was closed.

Emergency services earlier attended the serious crash after police were called to the scene at about 6.55am.

The woman, who had critical injuries, was taken to hospital in an ambulance.

SH1 was closed at Portland Rd and Loop Rd, with local diversions in place.
