SH1 reopens after fatal Levin crash

Two people are dead after a head-on crash north of Levin this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene on State Highway 1, south of the Waitarere Beach turn off, just before midday.

Police central communications Inspector Steve Darroch said two people were killed and at least one other person was injured.

Both lanes of SH1 were blocked but have since reopened.
