KEY POINTS:
Early morning traffic on State Highway One near Otaki is being diverted by police after reports of a head-on crash.
Police say one person has been flown to Palmerston North hospital by helicopter but injury details are not known.
The road is being cleared but diversions could be in place until about 10.15am.
Drivers heading north are being diverted through Waitohu Valley Rd while Southbound traffic has been diverted through Manakau Rd.
The accident follows a bad weekend on the roads which saw three fatalities.
