SH1 closed after cars collide

State Highway One at Paraparaumu, north of Wellington, has been closed after two cars collided.

The crash happened at about 10.40am at the intersection of Raumati and State Highway One, according to a statement from police.

The road has been closed and diversions are in place.

Police are warning drivers to expect delays.

A St John Ambulance spokeswoman said two people had been taken to hospital. One was in a serious condition and one had minor injuries.
