A trial to install a security camera in a residential Christchurch suburb to deter sex workers from plying their trade has been extended.
The high-tech camera was installed on the corner of Manchester and Purchas streets in St Albans earlier this year.
It came after fed-up residents had complained for years of anti-social behaviour created by the sex workers, their pimps and clients, including rubbish, noise, and damage to property.
They said they also felt unsafe and threatened in the area at night.
The three-week free trial, a joint initiative by Christchurch City councillor Ali Jones, police, and security camera company ATF Vision, was installed in April and deemed a success.
