Minister of Education Hekia Parata says she has received an interim report into how a convicted sex offender obtained work as a school teacher.
Terito Henry Miki, 41, pleaded guilty in April to seven charges of using a document for pecuniary advantage and four charges of breaching a supervision order.
Miki was convicted in 2004 of three counts of indecent assault and two of common assault on a 14-year-old boy and was sentenced to two years in jail.
He used fake names and qualifications to get work in six schools and was arrested when a member of the public recognised him and realised he was driving a vanload of children.
He is due to be sentenced on May 18.
