A man who abducted and raped a teenager in Carterton last year was found guilty by a jury in the Wellington High Court on Monday.
Michael Lihou, 44, argued the teenager had been willing and her story was made up, but he was convicted of two charges of rape, one count of sexual violation by unlawful sexual connection, assault and abduction.
Following the verdict, the court heard Lihou was a repeat sex offender who had abducted and raped a 16-year-old in Christchurch in 1988 and kidnapped a women in 1996. He had also served four years for burglary. He had been two years out of jail when he attacked the Carterton teenager. He will be sentenced in August.
