A prominent Nelson table tennis coach has been charged with sexually assaulting two teenage victims in two incidents a decade apart.
Police said Bryan Keane had been charged with unlawful sexual connection over an incident in 1997 or 1998.
He was also charged with indecently assaulting a male in 1987.
Both the victims in the alleged assaults were teenagers.
Keane appeared in Nelson District Court over the charges last week and did not seek name suppression.
Table Tennis New Zealand made Keane a life member in 2009.
He also served as the organisation's board chairman and deputy chairman in recent years.
Nelson Police said more information could still come to light in the investigation into his alleged offending.
They appealed for anyone who had information to contact them.
