Carterton District councillors have tweaked their prostitution bylaw.
Milan Hautler, council planning and regulatory manager, said there had been no applications to open a brothel in the town since the bylaw was enacted in Carterton in March 2007, when the first legal brothel in Wairarapa opened in the town.
The brothel, known as The Cottage of Content, was based at the Taratahi Hotel and closed down less than nine months after its doors opened.
Mr Hautler said minor amendments to the Prostitution Bylaw 2007 were made at a full council meeting on Wednesday and comprised inclusion of the operative district plan - the Wairarapa Combined District Plan - and the removal of transitional provisions. The council decision has to be publicly notified, he said.
