KEY POINTS:
A man accused of indecently assaulting a 99-year-old in her Palmerston North home will spend Christmas with his family while the woman remains in hospital, six weeks after the alleged attack.
Unemployed man Glen Patrick Joseph Walsh, 20, appeared for a depositions hearing in Palmerston North District Court yesterday, but it was put off while his new lawyer familiarised himself with the case.
It was re-scheduled for February 13, when Wellington lawyer Chris Tennet will represent him, the Manawatu Standard newspaper reported.
Police were called to the woman's home after neighbours heard screams about 2am on November 13.
She reportedly woke to find an unidentified man inside her house.
She tussled with the intruder for about 10 minutes before police arrived and arrested him.
Walsh was granted bail at his last appearance, when charges of indecent assault and male assaults female were added to those of burglary.
