A complainant broke down in tears as he described an instance of abuse by a man he identified as Brother Rodger William Moloney at Marylands Special School in the 1970s.
The man was giving evidence on the sixth day of the trial of Moloney before Justice Graham Panckhurst and a jury in the High Court at Christchurch.
Moloney denies 28 charges of sexual abuse against boys at the St John of God school at Halswell while he was the prior there in the 1970s.
