A rugby player thinks he is the latest victim of an Auckland club field contaminated with what is believed to be sewage from an open drain.
Geoff Cropp, 25, said he developed two infected lumps on his face soon after playing at College Rifles in Remuera.
The Teachers-Eastern player said his doctor sent him to hospital to get the lumps cut out after they failed to respond to antibiotics.
He was in hospital for two nights and off work for a week.
None of his team-mates had said they were ill.
Auckland City Council said it found no trace of sewage last week.
