Sewage leak reported at Rialto Centre in Newmarket

A customer at the Rialto Centre in Newmarket, Auckland, has reported seeing - and smelling - sewage leaking from the ceiling today.

The eyewitness, who did not want to be named, said the leak was coming from the ceiling downstairs and dripping on to the floor.

"When I went up the escalator, I could smell this poo.

"As I came back down the escalator, at the entrance to Kathmandu it looked like raw sewage coming from the ceiling."

She had lunch in the foodcourt just prior to seeing the leak.

A worker at one of the shops in the centre confirmed that it was "very stinky", but she did not have any more information.

The property managers of the Rialto Centre have been approached for comment.
