Three people suffered serious injuries and several were thrown from the vehicle in a crash in which a vehicle rolled down a bank in rural Ruatoki in Bay of Plenty this afternoon.
Two rescue helicopters were called to the scene, 21 kilometres south of Whakatane, at two o'clock.
One helicopter carried a 42-year-old Whakatane man with serious spinal injuries to Waikato Hospital and the other flew a man with leg injuries to Rotorua Hospital.
One patient was driven by ambulance to Whakatane Hospital.
