A 14-month-old boy from the mid-north has become the seventh confirmed case of meningococcal disease in Northland.
He was in a comfortable condition in Whangarei Hospital last night with type C meningococcal disease.
A 15-year-old boy, also from the mid-north area, is in a stable condition in the hospital's intensive care unit with suspected meningococcal disease.
Two Northlanders have already died from the disease in the past month.
