Thousands of fans lined Wellington's Golden Mile today as floats carrying 16 international rugby sevens teams paraded through the city ahead of this weekend's tournament.
The teams were accompanied by blasting music, bagpipers and brass bands on the lunchtime journey.
Wellington Mayor Celia Wade-Brown and New Zealand sevens coach Gordon Tietjens both spoke when the parade arrived at Civic Square.
After the celebrations had finished, New Zealand captain DJ Forbes said his side were pleased to see such great support in the capital.
"It's always special. I think everyone knows that we are a proud rugby nation, so every time you put on that black jersey, you expect to win."
