Seven people were taken to hospital last night following a head-on crash in Canterbury.
The crash occurred around 7.30pm on the the Winchester-Geraldine Rd.
Southern police communications shift inspector Lindsay Turner said the head-on crash occurred at an intersection.
St John South Island spokesman Ian Henderson said three ambulances and the Westpac rescue helicopter were sent to the scene.
Two patients were flown by the rescue helicopter to the Christchurch Hospital Emergency Department, one suffering serious injuries and the other with minor injuries.
