KEY POINTS:
Five people were injured in a three-car collision in Karaka, South Auckland, about 7.15 last night.
The drivers of two of the cars were critically injured and three people from another car had to be cut from the vehicle by the Fire Service.
The injured were taken to Middlemore and Auckland Hospitals.
Further south on State Highway 1 near the Bombay Rd turnoff, a teenage boy's car hit a centre barrier about 7.30pm.
He was cut from the vehicle by the Tuakau Fire Service and taken to Middlemore Hospital with critical injuries.
And a woman pedestrian was hit by a car on Karangahape Rd in central Auckland about 7pm. She was taken to Auckland Hospital.
