Interislander ferry passengers will no longer face disruption after a settlement was reached today halting strike action due to affect Cook Strait sailings from Saturday.
Unions and KiwiRail have been negotiating differences over new contracts and pay rates.
Today unions withdrew their strike notices, and lock-out notices were lifted following an agreement.
KiwiRail chief executive Jim Quinn thanked passengers for their patience.
"We also acknowledge the work undertaken by both Interislander and the unions in making progress on these issues,'' he said.
