A service will be held in Greymouth on Friday for Lavinia Langi and her teenage son Lesili, who died when their car crashed into a creek off Taylorville Road on Monday morning.
The service will be held at Greymouth High School, starting at 2pm. The Greymouth Star understands the bodies will then be flown to Auckland for a funeral.
A close family member said today the Langi family, who moved to Greymouth about seven years ago, had relations in Auckland and there was a possibility the rest of the family may move there, where they would get "plenty of support".
Members of the Tongan community in Greymouth were out and about this morning collecting for the Langi Family Relief Fund, which was opened at the ANZ bank in Greymouth yesterday.
By 11.30am the group had banked $1300. Tai Feast, one of the organisers, said they were "overwhelmed with the support".
