Police are hunting two armed robbers who held up a Wanganui service station last night.
One of the robbers entered the Shell service station on Dublin Street at 9pm carrying what was believed to be a hand gun, Wanganui CIB Detective Sergeant Neil Forlong said.
He ordered the sole attendant and a customer to the back of the store.
As the robber was stealing cash and cigarettes, a female customer walked into the store but ignored the robber's orders and left, Mr Forlong said.
The second robber then entered the store carrying a crow bar and the two offenders loaded up more cigarettes and other products before fleeing in the direction of Pitt Street, Mr Forlong said.
The offenders were wearing dark clothing and had their faces covered, but witnesses said they were possibly female, he said.
No one was hurt during the incident.
Mr Forlong said police would like to talk to the customer who left the store.
