A person has serious injuries after a cyclist and pedestrian collided in Auckland’s city centre.
Police received reports of a crash at the intersection of Wakefield and Rutland streets at 9.45am.
The pedestrian was taken to Auckland City Hospital in a serious condition.
“Road closures will be put in place around the intersection, with the Serious Crash Unit to attend the scene,” a police spokesperson said.
It comes as two people died in separate crashes on Auckland motorways this morning.
One man died after walking on to the Southwestern Motorway at 1.30am, where he was struck by at least three vehicles. None stopped, and police are appealing for the drivers to come forward.
The second person died - and four others were injured - in a 2.20am crash on the Southern Motorway in Ōtara, which closed a section of the motorway for several hours.
