The Serious Crash Unit has responded to a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 2, in which five people were reported injured.
The highway has been blocked near Dunlop Rd, Waiotahe, Ōpōtiki District, with diversions in place, according to a police spokesman.
According to a Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesperson, three fire trucks have been dispatched to the location.
“We are assisting Police and Ambulance at the scene.”
Three ambulances and helicopters, along with a rapid response unit, one transfer vehicle, and one manager, attended the crash, according to a spokeswoman from Hato Hone St John.
