A person has been trapped in an upturned vehicle after a serious accident in the Karangahake Gorge.
Police said a car had rolled on State Highway 2 this morning near Waikino and an unconscious person was left trapped inside the flipped vehicle.
Fire, police and ambulance were at the scene approximately 3km east of the Waikino Reserve.
The road had been left partially blocked after the car ended up in the middle of the road.
The New Zealand Transport Agency has tweeted motorists should expect delays around the crash scene.
