One person is dead following a serious single-vehicle crash in the South Island town of Owaka.
A police spokesperson said emergency services were called to the scene on Owaka Valley Road, in the Clutha District of South Otago, about 2.45pm.
“The road remains closed, and the Serious Crash Unit will examine the scene. Motorists should avoid the area if possible.”
A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said an ambulance, a first response unit and a helicopter were sent at around 2.35pm.
