One person has this afternoon been assaulted outside Hamilton City Council's Anglesea Street entrance.
A Waikato Police spokesperson said the victim had been taken to hospital in "a reasonably serious condition".
Three people had been detained and were assisting Police with their inquiries.
Police said they were getting mixed messages as to whether a weapon was involved but if it was, it likely a blunt instrument.
Both uniformed police officers and detectives were in attendance.
